We have released our custom made billet VVTi UZ race cams!! For those looking for serious power gains and pushing the limits of their Toyota V8, we now have a solution. Don't settle for stock cam regrinds, do a proper build with purpose built camshafts from scratch! Please choose your specific engine application from the drop down menu. We make different versions of these cams for 1UZ VVTi and 3UZ fitment, 2UZ non-VVTi fitment, and 2UZ VVTi fitment. This includes all 4 cams for 1 engine.
Forced induction (turbo or supercharger) cams have .428” (10.87mm) peak cam lift with 285 intake and 289 exhaust cam duration and 54 degrees of overlap. These are great for high HP N/A builds and forced induction projects!
Factory VVTi cams have 8.6mm and 250/260 duration, for reference
Cams can be ordered in VVTI and non-vvti versions., We now have fitment for all 98+ UZ fitment variations! These all will retain VVTi compatibility, and if need be, VVTi can always be disabled d own the road.
For the manufacturing process, we start with proprietary cast iron billets, CNC machine the lobes, and finish off with double heat treatment, 5160 induction hardening, and Tufftriding.
Please note you need to have your head machined to fit the race cams for lobe clearance. The forced induction cams do not require this modification.
The plugs at the end of the cams are included. Your scissor gears will also get reused from your original cams. The last 2 pictures show actual TRD heads and where they had to machine to install performance cams for example

Race versions are coated with ultra slick oil retaining film for added protection in your competition engine. ACL bearings are available in standard or plus sizes for more oil clearance for high temp due to forced induction or higher revs.
Please note with this remap tune service, you will need to send in YOUR ECU that we will modify for you. We cannot offer this service for 2001 model year IS300s. We've been doing UZs for well over a decade, so we know these engines inside and out. We also know the importance of being able to customize your build and have the flexibility to run exactly what your budget allows.
Before pistons are ordered, we inspect the block's condition and advise what sized pistons will be needed. This does not change the price, however you ideally will want as much cylinder wall thickness as possible, as that will hold power better, and it will give you room in the future to rebuild again if need be.
We also always use our in house torque plate to properly stress the block as with a head installed
Unlike other builders that order the pistons and drop them in, we make sure each bore correctly matches up with each specific piston! This is done to maximize fitment and sealing, which leads to more power and less blow-by.
Please note this does not include the core charge. We can easily source an engine for you, or you can send yours to us for building. We've built countless engines over the years and shipped them worldwide, including multiple builds making more than 1000 horsepower.

The non-VVTi 89-97 engines came from the factory with platinum spark plugs, however you can directly replace them with these iridium long life plugs instead.
One thing Toyota seems to have struggled with for a few decades was valve stem seals. We use these Viton stem seals on all 98+ UZ engines we build! That includes 1UZ VVTi, 2UZ (VVTi and non), and 3UZ engines.
If your engine smokes briefly at startup and at no other time, it's likely time to replace these.
Please make sure you select the correct engine, as the 98+ seals are different from the 89-97 ones
Please note there are 2 different diameter pulleys the UZ engines used. Depending on your setup, you should have either a 90mm or 102mm pulley. We do include a serviceable bearing as well with these pulleys, which will last the life of your engine!
You will need to verify which setup you have before purchasing!
Top idler pulley for your UZ's serpentine belt drive! These billet pulleys include a serviceable bearing, so the pulley should last the life of the engine.
Sticking with the stock rods for your rebuild? Make sure you grab these upgraded ARP rod bolts to keep them together! These are a great option for budget builds, especially if you will use a set of pre94 rods. Full set for your UZ V8! (NOT MEANT FOR AFTERMARKET RODS)
For higher HP builds (especially if your engine sees boost), we recommend upgraded rods as shown below, which include the rod bolts with them. These ARP rod bolts however are more than adequate for a fresh stock rebuild. ARP2000 bolts are also an option!
BC has joined the fight! Now available are standard forged 4340 steel H-Beam rods, which also come standard with ARP2000 rod bolts!

What?? Nobody does? Oh, okay, guess we'll have to then!
Available in stainless steel, this pair (both included) are the same dimensions as the factory header flange, used on the SC430 for instance. If you're looking to make a set of headers that bolt up to the factory H or mid piping, this is what you'll need. Or perhaps your exhaust is rusted, and you just need replacement options.
As seen in the pictures, they match perfectly over a factory header, but still give plenty of room for improvement when it comes to flow.
We also make the flange that goes from the manifold to the head! That can be added as well.
Factory exhaust manifold not included. Why would you use one of those anyways? Ew.
Please note this is a different flange shape from the non-VVTi 1UZ, and they are not interchangeable.

Looking to delete that power steering pump and go electric? We've got you covered! These are custom made, in house designed, machined in the USA (as all of our products are), and ready to go.
Included is the billet piece and the pulley. This will bolt up to your factory power steering mount bracket. The size of the pulley is the same as the top idler pulley. Depending on what else you may be doing, you may need to use a different belt size. Best way to check size needed is to use a piece of string to route around and measure the length needed.

This is a full set of Super Tech +1.5mm oversize valves for all VVTi UZ engine heads and all 2UZ heads, both intake and exhaust. For those looking to squeeze the most out of their Toyota/Lexus UZ V8, we have you covered! Please note these do not fit the 1989-1997 1UZ Heads
Features:
☼ The microhardness is higher than the stainless steel base material, keeping good ductility beneath the hard nitrided layer (microhardness is 800HV minimum)
☼ Surface finish is smoother than with chromed stems, having less friction between stem and guide.
☼ Valve seat surface is harder with the nitrided layer, lasting longer with lead free fuels, alcohols, nitro or other "explosive" mixes. Matches any kind of seats (nodular iron seats, steel powder metal seats, hard aluminum-copper seats or beryllium copper seats).
☼ Higher rpm's engines take full advantage of all previous features. The higher the engine speed the bigger the power loss due to internal engine friction! The black nitride layer reduces this power loss due to less valve-guide friction.

In most cases, we recommend 1.3mm head gaskets on 1UZ/3UZ (1.0mm on 2UZ), and if you are running custom compression aftermarket forged pistons. If you are keeping the stock pistons and looking to lower the compression ratio for more boost, we recommend a thicker head gasket such as 2mm. This is for BOTH head gaskets. We use factory OEM head gaskets when possible.
The 1UZ version of the head gaskets is specifically for the non-VVTi engine and does not surround the oil port going to the VVTi solenoids
Please keep in mind some sizes are exclusively made to order nowadays and will have a 1-2+ month wait time. The OEM head gaskets are more readily available.
Cometic Head Gaskets are developed with the performance enthusiast in mind. With so many individual requirements for each engine, Cometic offers a number of options to suit your specific build and needs.
The Cometic MLS gasket is comprised of three layers of Stainless Steel. Cometic uses Stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound, and corrosion resistance. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a flouroelastomer rubber based material (Viton) designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. The Viton coating is heat resistant to 2500C or 4820F.
The center or shim layer of the gasket is comprised of an uncoated Stainless Steel layer, which can be varied to accommodate multiple thickness requirements. The MLS gasket is ideal for both aluminum heads to cast iron blocks and aluminum heads to aluminum blocks.
The composition of MLS will also withstand the shearing forces created by aluminum heads on cast iron blocks. No re-torque is necessary. By design the MLS gasket promotes an even torque load across the sealing surface allowing for measurable reduced bore distortion.
C4136 and C4137 offer a standard bore size of 92.5mm. C4211 and C4212 offer a standard bore size of 98mm

Pre89 1UZ and 3UZ fitment confirmed reusing the stock Supra brake booster! Billet mounts for your aluminum UZ engine (or motor mounts, if you're wrong) into the MkIII Supra chassis! The pre89 version is finished and now available. If you have a 1989 model year Supra, please verify the subframe you have (or if your engine mounts were square or round) before ordering. Made in the USA!
Helpful hint: Square mounts came on the earlier cars, round on the later. 1989 was the crossover year, so please verify on your car. You may also need to shave the isolator part of the mount slightly for better fitment between the engine/mount.
Includes rubber isolator mount! Well, not actually rubber, it's UHMW (ultra high molecular weight) with a shore hardness of 68D, roughly equivalent to over 100A (which is a more familiar comparison scale). Despite being one of the smoothest V8s ever created, we prefer having a dampening barrier vs. a "solid" mount to reduce NVH for street cars.
These make bolting in your favorite UZ engine a breeze. Billet aluminum mounts, milled on a 5 axis CNC machine IN THE USA. Only the very best out there!

Who else but XAT?? We're starting an initial group buy on having all 4 timing cover pieces (both cam gear covers, mid cover, and lower timing cover) made in pure carbon fiber (no fiberglass). Carbon fiber is a known strong, yet lightweight material used on nearly every race car and high end exotic today!
Ideal for rebuilding engines where more demanding use is anticipated, such as heavy duty, motorsports, or street performance. As it is the most versatile replacement engine bearing, P-Series is suitable for most OE applications. Due to the increased load capacity of the Tri-Metal design, it is a suitable upgrade from Bi-Metal engine bearings.
These V8s arent getting any newer, but they have a ton of life left in them! Keep your UZ on the road and making power with factory OEM replacement parts. We typically keep plenty of these kits in stock!

This will fit all UZ engines, however the non-VVTi 89-97 engines will have timing belt idler pulley slightly off . You would need to run a larger idler pulley to keep timing belt tension. Customers have reported using pulley part number 231016 though it may also need a spacer.
We keep the factory oil pump in stock, so we can typically ship out a modded pump next business day!
Higher horsepower means more oil demand. When you're running twice or three times the stock power output, you absolutely have to be sure your engine is getting lubricated everywhere it needs to! Especially if you have an aftermarket oil cooler to keep oil temps down!
What does XAT do to bring you options for a better oil pump? We take a brand new OEM 98+ Toyota pump, remove all hard edges, radius all corners, enlarge the front main seal drain, and shim the pressure relief valve to give more max PSI. Make sure you get a quality oil pump for your engine, from the professionals at XAT!

There's plenty we do to greatly improve the oil flow without trying to "reinvent" the stock setup! The factory oil pump works well for factory applications, but there's clearly plenty of room for improvement, as we show here.

ATEMU simulates most critical features of particular Toyota / Lexus auto transmissions which were available for UZ / JZ equipped vehicles since 1998. This makes it possible to obtain rated power from engine when using factory ECU and any transmission other than that ECU is designed to work with. Factory ECU would otherwise enter limp home mode with significant power and torque loss (for example, VVTi set to max retard for 1998-2000 Lexus LS400) Some non-critical error codes remain intact for simplicity of installation and reducing the cost for off-road application. These codes can be easily addressed with additional components if emission test has to be passed for street legal application.
We now offer the additional resistor pack to wire in if you need to eliminate the check engine light (CEL)
Many users have run into an issue with drive belt routing when installing a supercharger setup onto an engine still utilizing the A/C unit on an SC/Soarer chassis. Elate has developed a bracket that utilizes 2 positions on the engine to securely mount to along with positioning a 60mm idler pulley at the correct offset allowing maximum belt engagement for the supercharger.

We offer an exclusive UZ engine torque plate for those that want to properly hone the cylinders on their Toyota/Lexus V8s! These fit all UZ engines with factory sleeves.
Any serious engine builder will tell you that you need a torque plate in order to provide a similar stress pattern on the block that it experiences with the head on the block.
Some builders even go as far as putting an old head gasket between the block and plate, then go through a standard Toyota pattern for torquing down the bolts/studs.
This is a precision machined torque plate, manufactured out of 2.0" (50.8mm) thick 6061 T6 aluminum (precision CNC'd by our own machine shop in the USA). Aluminum was chosen, as it best replicates stress and strain coefficients of expansion during torquing that the factory aluminum head does.
It has an overbore that will allow for plenty of room for honing and boring as possible, so if you are building a setup with stock or slightly larger bore, you won't have an issue.
They also get shipped in a sturdy container for protection.
These are quite possibly the only ones on the market anywhere, so instead of charging up to $800+ for these units, we thought we would bring it to the market for a reasonable price!!

A torque or honing plate is critical when doing the hone/bore process on any engine build, especially those that will be running a boosted setup and ARP head studs. Performance studs are typically torqued at much higher values than standard OEM studs, which causes a deflection in the cylinders if not using a torque plate.
We are also offering a rental service to use the ARP head studs that can be shipped with the plate. If you go this option, you will also be charged $15 to rent them, which we will subtract from the deposit once it is returned to us. Rental service is for 1 week only. Made in the USA!

Assorted UZ engines use different pulleys depending on generation and chassis, but any pulleys that arent a direct replacement for your setup are easily fixed.
Full set of pulleys weigh just 2 lbs and 6 oz! Depending on your application, that's a savings of 1 lb 6 oz over stock!

Some pulleys might fit your engine just fine but end up being a slightly different size/diameter. This may also change which sized belt you will need, so please keep that in mind when installing.
For example, the Celsior non-VVTi engines (both UCF10 and UCF20) DO use a smaller diameter power steering pulley than the USDM American LS400. This would spin the pully faster and "overdrive" it. For drift, race and motorsport applications, we recommend the larger diameter pulley to underdrive it slightly.
The Celsior non-VVTi power steering pulley is the same as the American spec SC400 one.

Anyone looking to turn their UZ V8 into something EXTREME should strongly consider a turbo setup! The biggest issue with "1UZ turbo kits" (or any UZ turbo kit) is chassis fitment. With every car and truck having different clearances, there's not a "one size fits all" turbo kit. Intake and exhaust piping will be unique to each setup.
Fortunately we have a solution to help get you started! You'll need to finish the rest of the plumbing on your chassis with the engine and turbo(s) mounted. Base headers are left open so you can either weld turns/transitions or your own flange. Optionally, we can weld 44mm v-band flanges to the end, so all you need to do is figure out the rest of the piping.
With this setup, you can mount the headers on either side. They are fully reversible! The most common solution is to run a single or twin turbos up front with the manifolds pointing forward. Remote mount turbos are also an option.

When building a high horsepower engine, a good focus is on the durability factor of the parts used to complete the engine. The engine's intake and exhaust valves are one of these areas needing to be more robust and/or improved upon when building sustainable power. XAT has one again teamed up with industry giant MANLEY to bring our new 1UZ vvti, 2UZ, 2UZ vvti, and 3UZ Stainless Steel valve kit to market! These valves are available in stock size, .5mm oversized, as well as 1mm oversized. Full stainless steel construction with a swirl polished finish for the best available fitment and performance factor for you, the valued XAT Racing customer.
These valves come in a complete kit of 16 intake and 16 exhaust valves for one engine. Might take 2-3 weeks to make and ship out.
What better option than factory? Instead of paying $400+ for an alternator in a Toyota box, we offer this same OEM alternator for a much more reasonable price. As it turns out, not all UZ power steering pulleys are the same! Some of them are not serviceable. Additionally, the 98+ (VVTi and all 2UZ engines) use a different style pulley from the earlier cars.
Please note some UZ V8s come with a fixed, press on pulley to their power steering pump. If you have one of these, you will need to swap your power steering pump for one that has a hex nut retained serviceable pulley. We strongly recommend checking what you have before ordering, and feel free to reach out to us with any questions. They are otherwise interchangeable and not too difficult to source!

If you are building a bullet proof UZ series V8, you will need the ARP Stud kits found here. If you're building a HIGH HP UZ, you'll definitely need this ARP2000 version. XAT Racing leads the world in Toyota/Lexus V8 parts! One of the most important and integral upgrades when squeezing more power out of the UZ engines is to go with better fasteners. We've developed a custom kit (not just reused other kits) to give your V8 a bit more room to work with safely, especially if you plan on boosting it!
What's important about these ARP studs? The factory bolts are torque to yield, meaning they are purposefully stretched after one use, and cannot be safely reused. These ARP studs can be used countless times in multiple engine builds, provided they are not stretched. Studs also give you a more solid clamping force over bolts. Check out the excerpt from ARP's catalog for an explanation we have in the pictures!
The added tensile strength of the ARP 2000 material lets you torque the studs down further, giving you even more protection from lifting the heads and/or blowing a head gasket, and is good for engines making 800+ HP
You should not have to shave the head studs down for the scissor gears for the cams. We include washers for non-VVTi applications to make installation easier.

Both (left and right side) head gaskets for your UZ engine rebuild! We only offer multi layered steel head gaskets for these, as they're tried, tested, and true. Please note the head gaskets are some of the only parts different between the different UZ engines, and you will need to select which engine you need these for specifically. Some of the few parts that do not interchange between the UZ engines are the head gaskets.

For those that need more electricity than our 150 amp option can provide, we have teamed up with JS Alternators to offer these custom made to order options! Even better, theyre plug and play, no adapter wiring needed!
JS Alternators also requires their universal Big 3 wiring kit, or otherwise similar wiring upgrades in addition to the factory wiring in order to handle the higher output. The big 3 Wiring upgrade is an ADDITION to your factory wiring.
All factory connections need to remain connected. For protection, it is recommended to add an in line fuse to the positive wire. All grounds must be cleaned to bare metal and properly secured.
Big 3 wires are 1/0 gauge pure copper cables. 1 positive to connect from the positive stud on the alternator to the positive battery terminal. Other 2 ground wires go from the alternator mount bolt to frame/chassis, and negative on the battery to frame/chassis.
Most JS Alternators are custom built to order and typically take 5-15 business days to be built and shipped. All JS alternators have a lifetime warranty on labor, and 1 year warranty on parts.
Hairpin units are commonly called 6 phase. They produce more output at idle and are more efficient than a conventional alternator. JS Alternators hairpin units feature premium bearings to withstand high engine rpm and utilize dual plate rectifier with 12 heavy duty diodes for improved cooling. Hairpin Units are a more reliable alternator to withstand high heat, high demand for car audio, marine, and racing applications.

The 98-02 UZ engines also had rubber bolt washers like older Toyota engines did to seal around the bolt holes of the valve covers. These should be considered to be replaced when doing the valve cover gaskets. Double check your engine to see if you need those as well

For installation when using the optional ARP bolt kit, torque to 70 FT/LBS using red thread locker/loctite on the bolts, and tightening in a star pattern, not one next to the other. We also recommend tightening down in 2 or 3 passes as well, instead of going from finger tight straight to 70 ft lbs. This flywheel does NOT require any spacers to bolt on, not even the factory spacer that goes from the crankshaft to the factory flex plate.

This service includes modifying both heads, not just one side. You get a full port job, 5 angle valve job, cylinder head inspection, and the heads get hot tanked for a proper cleaning. We offer this service for all UZ engines, VVTi or non. Regardless of what chassis your engine is out of, we service them all! LS400, LS430, GS400, GS430, SC400, SC430, Land Cruiser, Tundra, Sequoia, GX470, LX470, etc.
Please keep in mind that your heads will likely require extra work: heads will typically need to be decked, valve lash needs to be set (we can do this, will need your cams), and you may need other parts replaced such as valve guides. You cannot define every possibility in a single description or for all applications, but 'generally' speaking, what we provide with our Street Cylinder Head Refresh package is great for up to 8,000RPM, more RPM would be possible with proper optional valve train.
In reality, no matter what purpose/intended use of your build, you will benefit! The truth is unless you are building a 1300HP+ drag car, you can pretty much eliminate any serious deep cylinder head porting. You simply do not gain enough volumetric efficiency by hogging out a ton of metal in the heads, unless you are running a silly-high lift custom cam.
